Most women would say they have a stubborn little pocket of fat that no diet or extreme exercise plan can budge. Whether it’s inner-thigh thickness, bingo wings, double chin or a post-pregnancy muffin top – whatever its form, it’s usually downright impossible to shift. Well, until now!
Recent figures out of America reveal that fat freezing, a non-invasive alternative to liposuction, is now the third most popular non-surgical procedure, coming in behind dermal fillers and Botox. The procedure has seen a 24.7 percent rise in one year, partly because there are no needles, incision or downtime. You can freeze your fat in your lunch hour.
Fat freezing, scientifically known as cryolipolysis, isn’t new; it was first approved by the FDA in 2010. The Skin Rejuvenation Clinic welcomed a new fat-freezing machine in November and is already struggling to keep up with the demand of clients wanting to get their fat ice-blasted off at $600 an area. “The technology is incredible. You chill the problem area down to -8 degrees and the fat cells die and disappear,” explains Dr Brigid. “It’s not painful and clients can read a book or do some work on the laptop while the fat is being frozen away and then head back to the office.”
There’s a 30 percent reduction to fat in the area that is treated. Those fat cells are gone – that means it’s harder to put the weight back on in that area. The magical machine is ‘Cooltech’ and it’s set to revolutionise fat-freezing, enabling women to speedily contour their body shape without going under the knife.
Remember a few little wrinkles or imperfections don’t make you less attractive! The problem with chasing perfection with cosmetic treatments is that it can lead to an overfilled or fake look. Cosmetic treatments should only ever subtly enhance your natural beauty.
It is important to look at all areas of the face when thinking about doing cosmetic treatments as ageing occurs everywhere – not just isolated areas! Amazing lips can look completely overdone if the tissue surrounding them is saggy. It is important to find a cosmetic doctor who takes a whole-face approach so that you can achieve a natural look. A good cosmetic clinician will help guide you past unnecessary procedures and choose the right treatment for you to refresh your natural beauty. Natural contours can be restored using dermal fillers and wrinkles can be softened using Botulinum Toxin. Different treatments address different signs of ageing so often a combination approach will actually give you a more natural look.
Love the skin you are in!
