Louvres to love: Stratco

Let’s face it, we Kiwis love our indoor/outdoor flow. Whether morning, noon or night, if we can rest up and relax with a book, or chill with friends in the privacy of our own lovely green space, we feel pretty content.

But the best way to appreciate our outdoor havens is to be able to have some control over the capricious whims of Mother Nature; we don’t want to be scorched while reclining on our sun-loungers, but neither do we want to be drenched!

Stratco specialises in delivering state-of-the-art shelter solutions, such as fixed verandas, pergolas, electronic louvres and sunroofs, that enhance your outdoor experience in order to give you and your family extended months enjoying it.

Ian Rae, Outdoor Product Support for Stratco, says their clients are assured of a fully consulted job from start to finish. “We can do an initial consultation over the phone, then arrange a free visit to the site to look at the area the client wants covered and what they are trying to achieve. Following the site inspection an accurate quote goes to the client, generally within a few days. It takes around four weeks from confirmation to actual on-site work commencing,” Ian says.

The Stratco Allure systems’ frame and louvre blades are constructed from specially designed aluminium extrusions to meet with New Zealand’s stringent building code, and all hardware componentry is manufactured to their unique design specifications.

The fabrication and powder coating of all components is carried out in their Christchurch-based factory, prior to transporting to site for installation by Stratco’s highly skilled professional installation team.

Because each system is fabricated to order, this ensures versatility for the homeowner (or designer/architect for a new build) to choose whatever colours, size and shape they desire to match the overall design approach.

The unique control system is composed of a Danish-designed silent LINAK push/pull hydraulic motor running through a centralised automation control unit. The whole system is simply operated using either of the two remote controls. A standard inclusion in the Stratco Allure package is an Italian-designed Rain Sensor, which closes the louvres when rain falls, thereby keeping outdoor furniture dry.

To keep the unit aesthetically pleasing, the entire motor/control system is hidden from view; add in the perfect matching of colour of frame, the operating componentry and surface interface, and the entire unit feels, and looks, totally seamless.

“The beauty with louvres is that you get 100 percent control of light throughout summer and winter; especially in winter, when you want that maximum heat to come through,” Ian says, “And the remote control is very easy to use – no mucking around with an umbrella!”

Seasonal Solutions

Technically, our country enjoys a temperate maritime climate, but quite often climate doesn’t get the memo and it’s just a little ‘too’ something to get the most from your outdoor living space: a little too hot, a little too windy or a little too wet.

Stratco

The team at Stratco can provide you with the full range of outdoor shelter solutions, bespoke to your home, garden and lifestyle. “The right solution can really extend the amount of time you spend outdoors within the warmer seasons, and also get you out there for more months of the year,” says General Manager David Allingham.

Stratco’s large range includes everything from fencing for wind breaks, fixed verandas, sunroofs, fully electronic louvres, carports, pergolas, garden and wood sheds. They’re engineered to withstand the wind conditions of the area, and the streamlined designs complement any style of home and garden. Stratco Louvre or Fixed Veranda systems are custom built to your size and layout to suit your needs – units can be attached to your house or freestanding.

Louvre systems come standard with a remote control and rain sensors to give you complete control over the weather. Fixed verandas include sheeted roofing to provide strength for wind and snow loading, and add polycarbonate sheets to allow protected light to come through. Both systems create comfortable living spaces in our otherwise harsh environment.

Outdoor Product Specialist Steve Cain says, “it works really well when people spend some time over the summer break considering how they would like to make the most of their outdoor spaces”. “In the New Year, we can complete installation within six weeks of the order, so their outdoor time for summer 2018/19 could be extended well into autumn.”

The process is simple and stress free: Steve can talk you through the full range of solutions bespoke to you in size and colours. Once you’ve made some choices, the next step is the free measure and quote. The quote is fully detailed and all-inclusive for plumbing and electrical. “There won’t be any hidden costs,” Steve says.

On accepting the quote you’ll receive a fully dimensioned plan. Peace of mind comes from knowing that the team at Stratco offers project management that includes all of the subtrades and, of course, quality control. There is a great range of images on the website at www.stratco.co.nz, the Hands Road showroom is open 8am to 5pm on weekdays and Steve carries a working model on his truck.

Not just a great looking and fully engineered solution to suit demanding Australasian conditions, all Stratco products come with a full warranty. “We stand by our products. The Stratco brand is focused on quality and service and we are justly proud of what we do,” Dave says.

Expanding your living spaces: Stratco

Now is the perfect time to prepare for the long, hot days of summer and more outdoor living.

Stratco

The expert team at Stratco has the skills to help you create a space that can be enjoyed throughout the year, with its own range of unique verandas and louvres – from design to installation. “View our range online or visit us at our showroom to see what we can do for your outdoor space,” Stratco General Manager David Allingham says.  A Stratco Outback® verandah, louvre or carport provides protection from the elements, expands your possibilities for entertaining, storage – or an all-weather play area for kids. “A veranda not only adds functional living space and value to your home, but provides protection from New Zealand’s harsh weather conditions. Our fixed-roof verandas offer an affordable alternative to our louvres. It’s a proven product with quality design – they’ve been around for years and there is no other product like this on the market.”

Whether you are building a new home or making extensions, by letting light into your outdoors area while blocking out harmful rays and rain, homeowners are able to get so much more function from their home. The company offers a bespoke veranda which can be custom designed and built to suit your size, layout and attachment requirements. “We manufacture and install the units ourselves, so we can really customise them to suit each space. They are ideal as either attached or standalone units, and the addition of Stratco’s polycarbonate Outback Rooflite™ panels allows the supply of filtered light to the underside of the veranda.”

Another option is the Stratco Louvre. Controlled via a remote, Stratco’s systems also include a rain sensor as standard, so, if you are not home when it starts to rain, the unit will close automatically. Like the verandas, the louvres are ideal as either as an attached or standalone unit and, if you want to add louvres to an existing veranda, the team can retrofit a louvre system into most veranda/pergola frames – just request a free site measure to determine the finer details.
From concept to finished product, Stratco’s louvre systems can be in place six weeks from the order date. Once the unit is measured at your home, the team runs each unit through an engineering programme, designed to confirm strength of system to suit your wind zone.

The company can also provide fencing and sheds – and whatever you choose, the process is simple. Steve Cain, Outdoor Product Specialist at Stratco, will talk through the possibilities with you, and then measure and quote, which is free with no obligation. Stratco then designs, manufactures, and installs the products themselves – making the entire experience hassle-free.
