Here to stay: McDonald & Hartshorne

After recent events, everyone is looking to push the refresh and reset button. You might not be able to control everything in the world, but you can certainly control the look of your beloved furniture pieces thanks to McDonald & Hartshorne.

The quality furniture specialists offer a professional restoration, repair and reupholstery service to your worn-down favourites.

They carry the latest fabrics, vinyl, and leather from leading New Zealand tanneries.

They can even arrange to get your woodwork restored through their recommended furniture polisher.

Mike has been in the furniture polishing business for more than 30 years and works in with the company.

The team wanted to give a “timely reminder that we are here, we have been going for 16 years and aren’t planning on stopping any time soon”.

As a company they offer free quotes; Keith Hartshorne can go to any home or business and clients can make an appointment and come the showroom.

Free quotes are also welcome via email, sales@qualityfurniture.co.nz.

The team at McDonald and Hartshorne are excited to announced that they have moved into their new store at 424 Asaph Street.

While it was only a small move, it means big things for the beloved locals.

Spectacular Spectacles

Matthews Eyewear Eyecare is paradise found when it comes to highly personalised optometry and a range of stunning top-quality spectacle frames, selected from designers around the world. This calm and airy oasis was based at the Riccarton Clinic before making the move to Riccarton Road.

Optometrists Shivan and Grace have a strong focus on eye health and each appointment is personalised, utilising specialised equipment to identify changes in vision and a range of eye diseases.

“We really take pride in finding the perfect frame for everyone and have a range of styles to suit every face shape and budget,” explains Karen who has been Practice Manager for 13 years.

All the spectacle lenses used are Zeiss, while frames are fashion-forward and new stock arrives constantly.

Brands include Masunaga from Japan, Parisian designs Caroline Abram and FACE A FACE, German Frost Eyewear and French trendsetters J.F. Rey.

A large selection of the iconic Maui Jim sunglasses are also stocked, which protect your eyes but bring brilliant colours to life and, of course, you can get your prescription fitted.

Karen and Optical Assistant Natasha also have access to extensive ranges held in the 16 other Matthews Optometry practices.

General Manager Miles says, “We are a New Zealand owned family business and it’s a vote of confidence in both our Christchurch team and our loyal patients to invest in our new Riccarton practice.

We have an exceptional team of talented people providing exceptional customer service and would encourage new patients to come in and experience the difference.”

Located near Church Corner, there is ample parking behind the clinic.
