Cosy winter hotspot: Two Fat Possums

After a day traversing the slopes, there’s nothing better than relaxing in a cosy, local hotspot with good friends and hearty winter food.

Those in the know make Two Fat Possums, in West Melton’s Village Centre, their first port of call during the ski season, as they make their way back from the mountains. With its spacious dining areas and warm ambience, it’s the perfect place to unwind with a beverage to discuss the day’s activities.

A new winter menu has just been introduced, making the most of fresh, seasonal produce, such as the Pan-Seared Scallops with curried parsnip puree and broad beans; the Pea & Ham Soup with lemon ricotta and crusty garlic bread, or for something with a bit more heat, try the popular Lamb Shank Rogan Josh with saffron & onion pilau, spiced cauliflower and chickpeas with mint yoghurt.

Of course, for a quiet night in, you can’t go past the famed 13-inch pizza range that comes straight from the onsite wood fired oven and a delectable dessert menu is also on offer. The all-day menu also includes a wide variety of tap beers, ciders and wines, as well as non-alcoholic options.

Two Fat Possums is a local gathering point for fundraisers and events, and the team hosts a popular quiz night every Tuesday. For more information, visit the restaurant at 745 Weedons Ross Road. To book your reservation, call 03 421 6481 or visit www.twofatpossums.co.nz.
