Classic Kiwi hospitality: Milieu Café

Milieu is a French term, meaning a social setting or environment – which is certainly apt for the popular Milieu Café in Addington. Combining a warm, friendly atmosphere with an impressive selection of Kiwi-style dishes created fresh onsite using locally sourced ingredients, the café attracts many locals and regulars from surrounding businesses on 112 Wrights Road.

From breakfast, lunch and the best C4 Coffee, to a delectable selection of homemade baking, Milieu caters to all tastes and preferences. “Everything is made from scratch,” says Manager Stella. “We take our coffee and food really seriously and our customers are always complimenting them. Our friendly staff and baristas are excellent and know all of our regulars’ names and orders by heart.”

For breakfast, an early bird special (before 10:30am) of bacon, free-range eggs and toast is available for just $12.50. One of the most loved dishes on the lunch menu is the Thai Beef Salad – grilled beef served with house-made Thai dressing on seasonal salad greens, red onions and cherry tomatoes, topped with crispy noodles and roasted cashews.

The ever-changing ‘soup of the day’ is another popular choice for lunch, as is the Cajun-dusted Gourmet Chicken Burger and the Crispy Chicken Wrap – marinated in special Japanese-style seasoning. Alongside the freshly made scones and muffins, slices and sweet treats, there is always a variety of sumptuous savoury choices in the cabinet. Will it be a chicken panini, a tasty bagel or a slice of spinach and feta quiche?

The team can also deliver catering to close-by businesses as well as provide for private functions of up to 60 people at the café with a custom-made menu, whether it’s for a birthday, business or social occasion. Easy and plentiful parking is also available at Milieu Café, which is open from 7am-4pm on weekdays and 9am to 3pm on weekends.
