Significantly You: Via Sollertia

The symbolism behind marital rings is of such significance that in trying to find the perfect ring that says who they are, couples can easily become overwhelmed.

Via Sollertia

Via Sollertia Jewellery has been creating exquisite custom-made jewellery for 23 years, from rings bracelets and bangles, through to necklaces, pendants and earrings, or whatever else is desired. Just like food and fashion, jewellery changes with the times, and Via Sollertia’s jewellery designer, Clare, says there’s a definite shift towards more contemporary, eclectic styled rings nowadays.

“There’s an interesting move towards rings being comprised of a mix of shapes, colours and cuts – as in marquise, baguette and princess, for example. But it’s also about how the ring sits on the finger,” Clare says.
Via Sollertia prides itself on unsurpassable craftsmanship in producing bespoke jewellery that absolutely says it all.

Bespoke treasure: Via Sollertia

There’s a slight organic shift happening in ring trends, so think Clare and Joel of New Regent Street’s Via Sollertia.

 Via Sollertia

They design and sell mouth-wateringly lovely engagement and wedding rings, amongst other jewellery. The current mood seems to point in the direction of very simple yet hand-crafted, faceted rings in which the uniqueness lies in a certain ‘unfinished, non-uniform quality.’

“People are requesting beautiful buttery textures in which the metal appears soft and fluid,” Clare says.  She’s able to design and bring any ring-profile desire to fruition. Every piece is created on-site, to any dreamy specifications. The finish created can be contemporary or traditional; raw, beaten, rough, or glossy.

Desirable Innovation: Via Sollertia

The team at Via Sollertia understands that the ring becomes a part of you, an extension of your essence and simply being stunningly beautiful just isn’t enough anymore.

Via Sollertia

Design innovation is as elemental as air and water to Via Sollertia and Clare loves “that we have created something beautiful to solve a problem”.

She is talking about Via Sollertia’s own diamond-shaped ring keeper necklace. The ring keeper necklace was forged by the desire of women who do physical work, or jobs requiring continuous handwashing, to keep their precious ring completely safe, yet still wear it. You can display the necklace and ring, or tuck it safely into your top.

When your ring is nestling on your finger, the necklace stands alone as a fabulous piece. “We were challenged to design a product and it has become desirable in its own right,” she says. The ring keeper necklaces are bespoke to you, plus sizing and angles ensure your ring stays put. Doctor, drainlayer, dishwasher or busy mum, you need this clever little beauty.

A part of YOU: Via Sollertia

The team at Via Sollertia understands that the ring becomes a part of you, an extension of your essence and simply being stunningly beautiful just isn’t enough anymore.

The jewellery you wear needs to embody your values of locally sourced and ethical production. Via Sollertia handmakes product on site, using only stones and metals whose provenance they have carefully researched to ensure their sustainable credentials. Jewellery boxes are made in gorgeous recycled rimu, while even the finest gold dust filings are refined and re-used.

The desire for jewellery that represents the authentic self is leading to a trend for proposals without a ring. At Via Sollertia you come in together, select your ethically sourced stones and metals, and create something perfect together. The initial consultation establishes your style, which is then conceptualised, finalised and finished for you. Why would you go anywhere else?

A new chapter: Via Sollertia

If someone special has bequeathed you jewellery that means so much, but just doesn’t suit, Via Sollertia has a brilliant solution – remodelling – to get the piece out of the drawer and onto you.

Via Sollertia

Jewellery designer Clare establishes the style of jewellery you like, be it classic, modern, art deco, or art nouveau. “Browse pieces in store and in the catalogue and see what jumps out,” she says. “We’ll work with what you’ve got, re-using the stones and metal on site to create something completely personal.” The design process often sees people add to the components and Clare draws the design for you to take away and keep. Wedding and engagement rings are being modernised and reworked too.
“Re-modelling is my favourite thing to do,” Clare says. “It’s so special, creating something with huge history that people will actually wear and love, bringing a new chapter to the life of the jewel.”

Representative Bling: Via Sollertia

The zeitgeist of ‘you do you’ extends even and perhaps especially, to that most unifying of life’s milestones: the point at which the one you love becomes your pair-bond from this day forward unto the great hereafter.

Via Sollertia

Modern couples understand a successful marriage allows the individual essence of both parties to thrive and this is mirrored in their selection of personalised wedding rings.

The days when wedding rings matched – just because – are a relic of a more prescribed era. Personal taste, colouring and hand dimensions now drive the choice. A delicate rose gold and diamond ring can join in matrimony with a solid platinum one – the combinations are as varied as the wedded bliss they symbolise.

The team at Via Sollertia believes every wedding ring should represent the unique brand of love and honour its owner brings to the union.

Diamond in the Rough

Diamond in the Rough: Via Sollertia

Absolutely everyone asks about the ‘engagement story’. Clare, jewellery designer at Via Sollertia in New Regent Street should know. She’s even witnessed a proposal.

Diamond in the Rough

The stones and metallics at Clare’s atelier are spectacular. She lights up when talking about cuts of diamond and how a jewel will sit on a hand; matters of size, proportion and reflective qualities… all brilliant designer elements of every bejeweled gift.
Creating bespoke rings and conducting an exciting collaborative design process never ceases to be a joyful thing. “We really do love bringing dreams to life,” Clare attests.

Via Sollertia sources desirable stones in all hues and intensities, and will incorporate any styling, whether heritage-inspired or contemporary. One partner might broadly choose; the other might refine and add to the design. It’s unique to each couple.
“Currently gorgeous soft washed-out pastel stones are in demand, as are diamonds, always. The Princess-cut is just starting to resurge.”
However it happens, the end result is – no one else in the world has the same ring. A bit like the fact no one in the world has exactly the same aesthetic vision… or fiancée.

Symbolic Sparkle: Via Sollertia

Going bespoke is a lovely tribute to a special relationship.

Via Sollertia

It’s inherently romantic to seek out your own symbolic sparkle mixed with gorgeous gold, silver or platinum. In fact, deciding on an engagement ring, wedding rings, or other special occasion jewellery is one of life’s most delightful times.
A family-owned Christchurch business since 1996, Via Sollertia of New Regent Street is a family of young inspired designers who welcome client input. For those who want to buy on the spot, a tempting display of hand-crafted beauties – both vintage and modern – awaits.
It’s not necessarily more expensive, but definitely more exciting to help in the initial design, stone selection and perfect-fit of your own rings. Via Sollertia Manager Joel says some clients opt to bring them old or inherited pieces for a remodel into something intimate and exclusive, to love now.

Celebrating the jewellery of love: Clare from Via Sollertia

Designing has always been what floats Clare’s boat. Training initially as an architect, the Manager of Via Sollertia knew that jewellery design was actually where her heart lay. It still does.

Via Sollertia

Which is kind of great for someone who collaborates with couples over rings; the symbols of their enduring love.
Clare custom-designs for both locals and clients across the globe, from Via Sollertia’s New Regent Street boutique. Increasingly she’s asked for peachy, pinky, champagne-coloured diamonds in oval, marquise and pear-shaped engagement rings.
